The SiV Phonograph
|Owner||Starlynn & Bennet's|
|Founded||20 October 2012|
The SiV Phonograph, commonly known as the Phonograph is a Sabioveronese independent English language online newspaper site published on WordPress. It was founded in October 2012 as the news wing of Napoléon Bleuberrie's government and then the Socialist Party.
It's the main media outlet of Sabia and Verona available outside the Kingdom, as well as the only Sabioveronese publication in English. Its Head Editor has been, since its foundation, Tarik Kârjasary, the present King of the Valtirians. Its first post was made public on 20 October 2012, when Sabia and Verona was proclaimed a Juclandian territory. Since 2014, the newspaper's slogan is Voice of the Nation; prior to this it was Voice of the Region.
The SiV Phonograph was founded as an online newspaper after it was decided Sabioveronese news and articles would not be covered by the Juclandian government-run Scânteia. The name was inspired by the Zulian newspaper Diario El Fonógrafo (The Phonograph Daily), which played an important part in the opposition against Venezuelan dictator Antonio Guzmán Blanco. As inspiration, Kârjasary has quoted United States consul E. H. Plumacher on the Zulia of Guzmán Blanco's era: "Guzmán Blanco was never well disposed towards Zulia. Zulians always had a very independent spirit since they were, among all the Venezuelan peoples, the ones that loved their freedom the most." Part of Sabia and Verona's micronational identity has been inspired by Zulian regionalism.
In its early stages, The SiV Phonograph was Napoléon Bleuberrie's state-run newspaper. Following Osez Kóvérsz's election as Prime Minister of Sabia and Verona, the newspaper remained the official news outlet of Bleuberrie's Socialist Party. In 2013, the newspaper was bought by Starlynn & Co, and remains to this day owned by the Starlynn & Bennet's Media Group.
Alongside news reports and articles, The SiV Phonograph has frequently been subject to articles of analysis and opinion. Tarik Kârjasary, the Phonograph's head editor, has used this medium several times. Particular examples include the controversial article on the September 2013 Grand Unified Micronational Chairmanship elections. The Phonograph has also traditionally blended in apparently unintentional satire articles about political, social and cultural aspects of the daily life in Sabia and Verona and the MicroWiki Community, having The Onion and El Chigüire Bipolar as main inspirations for this resource.
