Socialist Republic of Indokistan (Indonesian: Republik Sosialis Indokistan) was a short-lived micronation existing in December 2010 until January 2011. The existence of this nation divide Indokistani historical era, when the predecessor of this nation recognized as "First Republic", the successor of this nation was referred as "Second Republic".
The country claims itself to be a communist government, but their policies failed to be communist. During the entire existence of this nation, civil injustice spreads like wildfire, that make the socialist government unpopular which led to a revolution which overthrowed the government.
It was established after influential Communist Party of Indokistan seized Farhan government through a coup d'etat in December 2010. After they succeeded to overthrow Farhan, they officially set the new government under communist guidance.
Socialist Republic authority failed to attract support from the populace, even from pro-communist Indokistani citizens, that refused to join the government and even refuse to recognize it as "communist". Civil injustice spreads rapidly, which Farhan described it "like wildfire". The new communist government failed to gain popularity and remain unpopular for its entire existence.
Government attack against alleged rebellious citizens in early January 2011 caused anger from citizens, on which they decided to established a civil disobedience that ended in January Revolution. The collapse of the socialist government was immediately celebrated, as deposed president Farhan Abdurrahman regained his seat as president and established the Indokistani Second Republic.
Indokistani Socialist Republic was unique on periodisation of Indokistani history. The republic was the first one which ended violently. Despite successor government hostility and attempt on suppressing influences of the Socialist Republic - shown by refusal to recognise the communist president on the official list of Indokistani presidents for instance, it was still recognised as a legitimate historical era, and no attempts on distancing itself from the facts that Indokistan was once "communist". One well-known evidence on this was on adoption of the Socialist Republic flag on two banknotes design of the national currency KistanRupiah.
According to Indokistani historians, the Socialist Republic was the most difficult to be documented, as historical evidenced on the state was rare and its rapid fall. Several individual even claimed that the Socialist Republic was not exist, but this argument was dismissed as pseudohistory.
In mid-2013, one citizen proposed new interpretation on the coup d'etat. His interpretation claimed that not Farhan Abdurrahman, but Nabil Ihsan instead that was overthrowned, with the former retained his position. With this new interpretation, it even supported the previous theory that the Socialist Republic wasn't exist - it had only a socialist government instead of a socialist republic. This theory too was later dismissed.
