Fantasia, or Respublica Fantasia is a republic which was established on 31 October 2015 on the continent Middle Earth.

History

The Kingdom of Fantasia was proclaimed on September 21, 1315 by Constantine of Querelle, the first king of Fantasia. The neighboring principalities and counties became part of Fantasia through marriage policy, land purchase and warfare. Around 1600 Fantasia had an area equivalent to half of the current area of ​​Fantasia, anno 2015. In 1701 the full freedom of religion was introduced by King Leopold I. After a victorious war against Ziegler Stein (where Fantasia fought on the side of Servusland) the big Royal Palace was build. Fantasia acquired a large area in 1741 and the town of Straussenburg.

After 1750

In the second half of the eighteenth century the monarchy seemed to falter momentarily, especially around the year 1781. The clumsy statement Apres moi, le déluge (After me, the deluge) of the decadent king Constantine IX caused much resentment among some of the poor peasantry. It led to the kidnapping of the daughter of King Constantine IX, but was eventually liberated from the hands of the kidnappers by royalist troops. This event was later filmed much. A civil war was finally prevented by the king established a soup kitchen and the economy grew in 1782, also asked the king Servusland aid. This land grab in which the military rebellion was suppressed completely.

After 1829

In 1829 there were once small riots place in the feudal countryside, which were directed against the repressive regime of authoritarian various tombs and awnings. The king asked Servusland to intervene but nevertheless decided to give in with appeasement politics to calm the unrest. Fantasia became a constitutional monarchy in 1830. In the years 1908 to 1912 claimed insurgents in the colony "New Fantasia" a war of independence. Fantasia was supported by Spain, Belgium, Austria and the United Kingdom. Nevertheless, if did not went well for Fantasia and after nearly four bloody years Fantasian troops withdrew from "New Fantasia". The Kingdom of Fantasia recognized the new "Republic of Kalao".

Since 1920

After a fascist regime took power in Zieglerstein in 1929, a war broke out between Fantasia and Zieglerstein. After three years of bloody fighting, Zieglerstein was defeated by Fantasia and Servusland. This war was despite the military victory destructive to the Fantasian economy and debts began to rise quickly. In the 1930's, Fantasia was suffering a major economic crisis.

Revolution of March, overthrow of the monarchy, establishment of the republic

On 1 March 1935 king Constantine XIII abdicated. His son Constantine XIV was inaugurated as the new monarch of Fantasia on the 4th of March in 1935. The autocratic regime of the young king Constantine XIV became very unpopular and social unrest was on the rise in the Kingdom of Fantasia. After the harsh winter of 1935-36, a revolutionary spirit was awakening in Fantasia. The Social-Democratic and Communist Parties gained massive victories in february 1936. On 2 March 1936 a large group of liberal protesters commited a coup d'état, king Constantine XIV fled to Translymenia and the Respublica Fantasia was established. The Latin name "Respublica Fantasia" was chosen as official name for Fantasia, the Latin name was considered to be more political neutral than for example a Spanish, Dutch or English name.

Politics

The head of state of Fantasia is a consul in stead of what is normally the head of state of a republic, a president. A consul was considered to be closer to the people. A president is too powerful, according to the Fantasians.

In the region of Transsilmania, the Principality of Celsiusberg is the last monarchist remnant of Fantasia. This principality is lead by a count and has a large amount of autonomy within the Respublica Fantasia.

Culture

After the revolution in 1936, the proclamation of the republic declared all men in Fantasia to be created equal. Personal freedom was now a very important subject, citizens' rights were now fully established. All political parties were allowed, full freedom of speech was realised and the state religion of Catholicism was abolished. Since the revolution the state was completely dereligionised, gay marriage was established and gay couples were allowed to adopt.

Heraldry

The crown in the flag and coat of arms represents sovereignty of the people of Fantasia.
