Politics of Abelden
The politics of Abelden take place within the framework of a parliamentary representative democracy, a constitutional monarchy and federal monarchy in which the Emperor of the Abeldane Empire is the head of state and the Vorsitzender is the head of government in a multi-party system.
Executive power is vested on the Monarch, who by constitutional convention "delegates" it to the Government of Abelden, presided over by the Vorsitzender. In practice, this means the Government excercises most of the executive power in the Empire. Legislative power is vested in the Bicameral Reichsversammlung, which consists of the Volkstag, whose members are primarily democratically elected on a half-year basis, and the Bundesrat, selected by the states. Members of the judiciary are appointed by the Emperor. The highest court of law in the Empire is the Reichshöchsgericht, which consists of judges called Associate Justices, and is chaired by the Supreme Justice.
Abelden is a federal monarchy consisting of 6 federal states. Each federal state has its own monarch and government, with authority over its own local laws and regulations.
