Backround

After the New Flanders Crisis, the Union established attempted to establish military zone around The Archduchy and The Kingdom. Once the Shorewellese government learned of this development, they called for an establishment of a free zone to avoid a complete encirclement of the Archduchy.

Crisis

Following a failure of negotiations on the status of the said zone, the Danubine leaders decided to invade the Archduchy all together, something the Sultan believed proved the ill will harbored by the Union against the Archduchy. The short conflict ended with a complete de facto annexation of the nation into the Union, though the Shorewellese government claims such an annexation is illegal as per the Ehengntyre Accords and Nozax Declaration.
