Quality images is an unofficial program ran by the Cupertino Alliance that meets quality standards and/or has historical significance and therefore valuable for MicroWiki. Unlike featured pictures, quality images must be the work of MicroWiki contributors and are not voted upon by the public.

Photos are divided into 4 subgroups:

  • Pictures with special technical merit
  • Pictures with significant historical meaning
  • Pictures created in a particular matter
  • Pictures with a particular subject

There are two types of quality pictures. One fulfills some of these criteria and is a Quality picture:

  • Created by a MicroWiki user
  • Good mix of colour
  • Good mix of ISO, shutter speed, and aperture
  • Must not be a photo of a digital graphic, etc.
  • Must be at least "medium-sized"

Another one is a Valued picture. This one fulfills some of these criteria:

  • Created by a MicroWiki user
  • Good mix of colour
  • Good mix of ISO, shutter speed, and aperture
  • Must not be a photo of a digital graphic, etc.
  • Must be at least "medium-sized"
  • Captures a rare event which will be hard / can not be replicated again
  • Must be useful to many MicroWiki pages

You can nominate a photo for review to the quality picture standard at MicroWiki:Quality picture/Nominate.
