Jucărești, officially the Principality of Jucărești (Romanian: Principatul Jucărești) is one of the provinces of Juclandia and capital of Juclandia. It was founded after the territorial and adiminstrative reorganisation of August 2012, along with the other four states and four territories of the Kingdom. It neighbours the territory of Paradissi in the South, the states of Floral and Culinar in the South and the West, and Romania in North and East. With an estimated population of 113 in June 2013, it is the most populous province of Juclandia, but with an area of 480,000 cm2, it is one of the smallest.

Jucărești, despite being the capital of Juclandia, is not directly controlled by the central government of Juclandia but has the same degree of autonomy as the other states of the country. It is a constitutional monarchy, with Ciprian I serving as Prince (Principe) of Jucărești, and Fram Jucărescu serving as Premier, who also serves as a member of the province's legislature, the General Council of Jucărești. However, as of June 2013, a popular uprising is taking place, and Jucărescu has fled the province for either Culinar or Floral, and the political situation is uncertain.

The economy of the province is one of the most developed in Juclandia, alongside the economy of Lenia. It has several companies in the tertiary sector of the economy that form together an important part of Juclandia's Gross Domestic Product. It is also one of the provinces where the Juclandian leu is the sole legal tender, with the Romanian leu being barred from circulation.

History

The city of Jucărești has seeen different stages in the history of Juclandia. It was founded as sole locality of the Country of Toys back in 2001, bearing the name Orașul Paradisul Jucăriilor ('OPJ', Paradise City of Toys). Starting with an estimated population of less than 20, the settlement grew to get over 100 citizens as the years passed by. It has always been the center of Juclandia or her predecessor, it being the sole territory of Juclandia for a limited amount of time in 2001/2002. It was renamed to Jucărești some time around 2003.

The city has had some symbolic mayors over the time, the names of which have been lost due to the lack of documents. However, the city had no autonomy and it had always been directly controlled by the central government, until 2007, when certain cities in the Socialist Democratic State have been granted some limited autonomy and local governments. In 2008, the city became the Municipality of Jucărești and was granted the power to have its own elections, mayor and council. However, in practice, the settlement was still under the direct authority of the central government. In 2010, when Juclandia became a monarchy, Ciprian I was granted the symbolic title of Prince of Jucărești, which had no power at that time.

In August 2012, a territorial and administrative reform was passed by the Great National Assembly, which united the Municipalities of Jucărești, Arkudiopolis and Aqatic to form together a new province, the Principality of Jucărești. It was for the first time in history when the province had actual local government powers guaranteed by the Constitution. A legislative and executive power has been formed, the General Council of Jucărești and the Premier of Jucărești, which is the sole executive of Jucărești.

On 3 June 2013, a popular uprising has started, demanding the resignation of Premier Jucărescu[1]. After the protesters broke into the barricaded Palace of the Great National Assembly, Fram Jucărescu has fled the province. From 3 to 6 June 2013, Jucărescu was still nominally the Premier of Jucărești, but the city had already fallen under the control of the United Revolutionary Front, a mass movement created amid the protests. On 6 June 2013, Prince Ciprian I decided to remove Premier Jucărescu from office and appoint as Acting Premier one of the leaders of the FRU, Matilda Saufiedottir. On 9 June, elections have been held and the United Revolutionary Front won 59% of the votes and 8 of the 10 seats in the General Council[2].

Government

The Principality is organised under a constitutional monarchy whose sovereignty comes from the will of the people (res publica). By law, the executive and legislative power is vested into the Prince (Principe), who rules at the discretion of the people of Jucărești.

After the Jucăreşti Local Government Act 2012 was passed by the Great National Assembly, the General Council of Jucăreşti was created. It acts as the de facto legislative body of Jucărești, whose power is given by the Prince. It was firstly elected on 8th June 2012. In March 2013, after a new Jucărești Local Government Act was passed by the Great National Assembly, the General Council of Jucărești was slightly reformed. The General Council has 10 members, each representing one of the cooperatives of Juclandia. The elections are held internally, in each cooperative, every 3 months.

Premier

The Premier of Jucărești is the executive authority of the Principality. It is chosen by the General Council with a qualified majority of the members.
