Paloma (/pəˈlo.mə/), officially the Free Socialist State of Paloma, is a self-proclaimed republic and sovereign state, though it is commonly referred to as a micronation by external sources. Most of its territory is located in the U.S. state of Michigan. It is made up of nine major administrative divisions spread across two regions. Though Paloma lacks a formally mandated capital, Paloma City is considered to be an informal capital city.
Paloma is the founder and head member of the Great Lakes Council, and is a former member of the Grand Unified Micronational. Paloma is officially trilingual at the federal level, using the English, French and Spanish languages on signs and official documents. The language customs of Paloma are enforced by the Paloman Language Police.
Contents
Etymology
The word Paloma comes from the Spanish word for dove, which is a bird that is usually white in color. They are used in many settings as symbols of love and peace, or as messengers. Doves appear in the symbolism of Christianity and Pagan faiths, and are used in the insignia of many military and pacifist groups.
History
The first and current President, Aidan McGrath fully created the Republic's laws, principals and flag. Since 7 November 2019, the Republic has not entered into a diplomatic issue with any other micronation.'
Declaration of independence
In the afternoon on 7 November 2019, after changing the government of the People's Federation of Quebec to a democracy, the president of the Sauveuse Republic removed the Prime Minister of the Republic who was at the time, Eryn Lewis and dissolved the National Assembly. Plenty of members created a opposition government and claimed to be the successor state of the People's Federation of Quebec which was still holding a seat in the Grand Unified Micronational at the time. Some even said it looked like a "civil war"[c], and others called it a "coup"[d] Later on the two would fight over who is the legal successor of the PFQ. On 10 November 2019, Lewis proposed a deal spliting the PFQ's land claim 50/50, giving then modern day Sacréeians what used to be Citadelle and the Sauveuse Gabriel Richard. It was also apart of the deal for the McGrath to claim that the Sauveuse is the legit government and that he would have to change the name. After the deal was finalized on 10 November 2019 the Sacrée Republic came into existence and peacefully received independence from the Sauveuse Republic.
Unofficially joining the British Empire
On 15 November 2019, the Sacrée government officially joined the British Empire and recognized current monarch Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth of Nations. A day later on November 16 2019, they declared independence from the Empire and formed into a commonwealth based off Canada and Australia. Since the founding and departure of the Empire into a Commonwealth the Monarch has not recognized the Commonwealth officially.
Maria Conference and Socialist transition
On 20 November 2019, at Heritage Park in Taylor was a brief conference including sixteen members of Sacree including the then Prime Minister. They agreed to abolish the imperialism in favor of Marxist and Leninist ideas. The sixteen members at this short conference became what is known as the Paloman regime or the "Big 16", which discreetly control Paloma and its Government.
Modernizing era (2019-present)
From 29 December 2019 to -, Paloma received plenty of historical changes. In early January the Constitution was reworked giving the Communist Party more power then before and later that month the national flag was redesigned to be more inspired by Hispanic culture. The final changes were finalized on the 2 February 2020, the final day of the claimed era, changes made were a new motto, anthem and name, the "Free Socialist State of Paloma".
Culture
Paloman culture derives from the U.S. state of Michigan, and the countries of Canada and Spain. The most common religion practiced and recognized by the government is Roman Catholicism. Internet culture is also very common in Paloma, such as the interpersonal exchange of memes. Demographically and ethnically, Paloma is very diverse due to its roots and people deriving from places around the world.
Music
Music is the most frequent form of Paloman cultural media. Rock and roll and Rap music are the most influential genres in the nation, with the rapper XXXTentacion, the classic rock band Queen and the British folk band the Beatles being the most popular musicians nationwide.
Architecture
Architecture in Paloma is very classical and mostly are Gothic Revival style or Art Deco, with the exception of a few modern buildings.

One of the Most famous structures built is the Uniroyal Giant Tire. The tire was designed by the same company that made the iconic, "Empire State Building", Shreve, Lamb & Harmon. The tire first debuted at the 1964 New York World's Fair as the US Royal Giant Tire Ferris Wheel. The wheel carried over two million people, including prominent passengers such as Jacqueline Kennedy, Telly Savalas, and the Shah of Iran. After the fair it was relocated to Michigan on the side of I-94 and now currently sits in Paloman territory.
Transportation
In Paloma, transportation between areas is key. The Kingdom has adapted there own MUTCD inspired road signs and has even created and installed national highways. Paloma also has a Railway system being used from already existing tracks on parts of the Detroit.
Business
The Paloma has many companies and store brands that are exclusive to the country only. These include, Xtreme, or Xtreme Skatebording co. and weapons manufacturer Être Groupe Voiture S.O.E. The runs also runs the Intermicronational news company, the PBN News which is also the oldest news company in Paloma.
Languages and dialects
In Paloma, there a multiple languages including, English, and Spanish and sometimes French. What makes Paloma's english different from most of the world is that they use symbols and letters from what is now known as Old English. These symbols include, the Interrobang and the Inverted question and exclamation marks.
Environment
In Paloma, there is a very big community of Environmentalists, who believe in ideas of power with clean energy, like Wind or Solar. Paloma however does not have enough funding to afford its own power system. Most electrical power comes from the Enrico Fermi Nuclear Generating Station, also know as, Fermi. Fermi is disliked by many Paloma citizens for the safety and stability of the plant. Fermi has even had a "partial meltdown", in the 1960s, this is what fears most people in Quebec. These ideas made the imfamous book by John G. Fuller, We Almost Lost Detroit a popular hit.

Politics
Paloma's constitution states that the Free Socialist State of Paloma is a "socialist state under the people's democratic dictatorship led by the working class and based on the alliance of workers and peasants", and that the state organs "apply the principle of democratic centralism." The Paloman government has been variously described as communist and socialist, but also as authoritarian and corporatist, with heavy restrictions in many areas, most notably against free access to press.

Since 2019, the main body of the Paloman constitution declares that "the defining feature of socialism and communism is the leadership of the Communist Party of Paloma (CPP). The 2019 amendments constitutionalized the one-party state status of Paloma, wherein the General Secretary (party leader) holds ultimate power and authority over state and government and serves as the paramount leader of Paloma. McGrath's most important title is general secretary, the most powerful position in the Communist Party. In Paloma’s one-party system, this ranking gives him virtually unchecked authority over the government. The state press describe the elected Congress as a "rubber stamp" body.
Government
Vice President
The President is Supreme head over government, he can veto and pass things without consent of the Congress or Supreme Council however this method is mostly avoided to prevent small and major drama in government. The Vice President is the second in command to advise heading over government, he has the succession power over the President if death occurs or resignation. He can take up the head in a meeting if the President is absent and Receive the power to veto and pass things without consent of the Congress or Supreme Council like the President.
Foreign relations

The Socialist State of Paloma has very little contact with other nations since 2019. Paloma currently makes small interactions with other Micronations and municipal government. Paloma as pushing for a good foreign policy is attempting to retain more diplomatic actions and mutual agreement treaties with other Micronations.

Geography and Climate
Most of the land area in Paloma is mostly flat and a little hilly. There are many forested places around Paloma and many small plants and trees.
Paloma is located southwest of the US state of Michigan, the climate is close to the city of Taylor.

Paloman Armed Forces
The Paloman People's Army (PPA) is the military of the republic. Most of its personnel is contained in the navy, though land and air forces also exist. Paloma has divisions of other nations in the Paloman Liberation Army almost like the French Foreign Legion due to the Treaty of Compact of Free Affiliation which gives Paloma the right to support and protect the nation financially and efficiently.
