Aydan Benjamin Dillon (born 21 March 2006) is a Floranian/American politician and activist who served as the 1st President of Florania from 9 June 2020 until 13 September 2020 when he lost re-election to Caeserea senator Isaiah Burdette. A member of the First Party, he previously served as Prince of Malinovia from 5 April 2016 until his abdication on 7 July 2020. He is one of the first openly genderfluid micronationalists.

Aydan's micronational career began on 5 April 2016 when he established the now-defunct Kingdom of Dillonia. At that time, Dillonia's land claim consisted of no more than his bedroom and a portion of his yard. After a few weeks of activity, the micronation went dormant and eventually went defunct on the nation's 2nd anniversary, 5 April 2018. On this day, he and his family relocated to the state of Florida, where he founded the State of Malinovia and helped start several other micronations. He eventually abdicated the Malinovian throne due to personal reasons, and soon after founded the Free Republic of Florania where he served as President until he lost his re-election bid. New President Isaiah Burdette appointed him Vice President, a position he holds to this day.

Early life and education

Aydan Benjamin Dillon was born on 21 March 2006 in Vancouver, Washington, the oldest of three children of Kia Calderon-Dillon and Jeraby Dillon. His mother was a sales associate at WinCo, and his father was an IT technician at Radcomp Technologies. He was a seventh-generation Washingtonian. His ancestry is of British Isles and Norweigan descent.

He attended several schools throughout his early life, due to his family constantly moving. When his family moved to Florida in 2018, he entered high school at West Florida High School of Advanced Technology in Pensacola, and joined the Academy of Aerospace Engineering. He is a member of his high school's debate club and plays goalkeeper on his school's football team.

Micronational career

Prince of Malinovia

While serving as Prince of Malinovia, Dillon underwent significant emotional stress. That, combined with incidents like Malinovia v. Micronational Assembly as well as work overload from school, ultimately lead him to abdicate his position as Prince, passing the crown to the current Prince, Vincent I.

Political positions

Aydan's position on the Political Compass.

Dillon is described as being socially liberal and economically moderate (leans conservative). Socially, he is pro-choice, pro-drug, pro-LGBTQ+, pro-immigration (but does not support decriminalizing illegal immigration), pro-gun, opposes capital punishment, opposes stop-and-frisk, and opposes fracking. Economically, he supports climate change regulations, a public option for healthcare, government investment in infrastructure, and poverty alleviation protocols.

Future political career

Dillon has discussed his future political career. If elected to the Atlanta City Council in 2024, as predicted, he would become the youngest candidate ever elected to federal, state, or local office in United States history; dethroning Jacob Bachmeier who was elected to the Montana House of Representatives aged 18. He has also shown interest in running for Mayor of Atlanta, the United States House of Representatives, Governor of Georgia, potentially the United States Senate, and eventually President of the United States.
