Domanglia stretches out friendly hand
Hi Burkland, or as I used to know you, ComradeMr Republic (I think... I find it difficult to remember all these years later).

Pleased to see that you're back after all these years. Only a few months ago after years without micronationalism I decided to re-establish Domanglia. Micronationalism was a fun childhood hobby and I was feeling rather nostalgic about it. As Burkland was one of Domanglia's first friends in the YouTube micronational community of 2011, and as you were (albeit briefly) a Domanglian monarch back in 2012, I'd like to stetch out a friendly hand. Glad to see you're doing well.
: Oh thank you. It's been a long time, hasn't it? Burkland (talk) 18:06, 3 January 2019 (UTC)
:: Sorry for the late response - I've been rather busy lately. Yes, it has been a long time. Micronationalism was a fun childhood memory, though I think in hindsight people took it a little too seriously and took the fun out of it. It was very strange how the Domanglian Empire and the Marxist People's Republic of Burkland - countries on two ends of the political spectrum - never really had any disagreements between ourselves, but I think that's to our credit. You seem to be very humble about yourself in your self-description on your talk page, but for the record I always remembered you fondly. Burkland was a fun and interesting micronation while it lasted, from an outsider's perspective.
::Are you still doing anything micronational? Apart from editing the Wiki that is. I re-established Domanglia because, as I said, it was something I had fond memories of, and it's a quirky little hobby I'd like to pass down to my kids.
::As a former monarch of Domanglia, I think you're worthy of a decoration. How would you like the honour Comrade of the Principality of Domanglia, in recognition of your past role in the Domanglian state?
::All the best, Dominic.
Consider yourself honoured :)
I have no idea what to call you now - you've gone through various names through the years (as have I). For now let's just go with "Rachel Burklandssen, Comrade of the Principality of Domanglia".
Yeah, micronationalism can be a nice valve for artistic expression but sometimes it goes too far. Obviously while I had an outsider's interest in Burkland I was never a communist and didn't approve of your Stalinist iconography. In hindsight micronations like the Union of South London Soviet Socialist Republics seem in bad taste. Only recently I had to tell a micronationalist off for using Nazi symbolism and he quickly backed down. We were just kids, I suppose.
Another thing I disliked about micronationalism, why I left the first time, is that people can get too deep into micronationalism and it can be an utter waste of time. Like, Domanglia is a fun little project I'd like to pass down to my kids, but that's all it is. There are other more productive things, like my university studies, my blog, my podcast, my short stories, that I need to focus on as a priority. Unless you go all-out and micronationalism becomes a major artistic project, there are usually more important artistic valves out there.
Sorry to hear you've been having a bad time. I've had a pretty awful year too. I lost my faith and a relationship collapsed, so I've been through the thick of it. I still have depression, but writing short stories helps me cope. And the world is an awful place, nobody denies that. Unlike you I don't think communism, or anything really, will solve that. But we keep calm and carry on. I'm happy that I was ever born in the first place.

Hey, it's me Harry! I've missed you. How have you been? I'm glad to hear you've transitioned well, I hope you are happier! Oh and btw I completely get what you said on your main user page, but I wouldn't worry too much about it. Lots of us have done cringey things in the past, I'll never forget our friendship or the old Skype diplomacy between Monovia and Burkland:P

Anyways I hope you are doing ok!! Nocthesis (talk) 21:18, 11 March 2019 (UTC)
Nocthesis
