The June 2020 House Holdian federal election was held on Saturday 20 June 2020 to elect members of the 12th Parliament of House Hold. The election was called after the dissolution of the 11th Parliament. All 25 seats in the House of Representatives and all 14 seats in the Senate were up for election. The governing minority Labor government, led by Rufus Wolf, won a third one year term against the Conservative/National Coalition, led by Cool-Dude. Many minor parties and Independents contested this election. The small parties elected to the parliament were the Green Party of House Hold, Bolderash, and the Open Up Party.

House Hold has compulsory voting and uses full-preferential Instant-runoff voting in single members electorates in the House of Representatives and Single Transferable Vote in the Senate.

On election night BNN and HH1 projected that Labor had won at least 10 seats and the Coalition on 5 seats. 10 seats were still Too Early or Too Close to call on election night. BNN was the only network to project a Labor victory on election night. On the morning of the 22nd, BNN projected a Labor minority government. When counting was completed on the afternoon of the 22nd Labor was just one seat short of an overall majority with 12 seats, the Coalition finished with 8 seats, the Greens 2, Open Up 1, Bolderash 1, and 1 Independent.

The result of the election shock. For more than 4 months Labor and the Coalition were tied at 35% of first preferences and 50% on the TPP. This was just the second time a party had won a third consecutive term. This partly thanks to strong results for Labor in the Bedroom and Livingroom.

Redistribution

Since the October 2019 the election the Bathroom and Kitchen were given 1 seat each in the House of Representatives. The total number of seats in the House of Representatives increased from 23 to 25 seats.

Aftermath

On election night Wolf say "The idea of putting working people first has won tonight". He also said that this was a upset. Even with his party winning the most seats Wolf lost his own seat and resigned as the leader of the Labor Party the next day. Cool-Dude remained as Coalition leader after the election.
