The Royal Republic of Ipania (Spanish: Real República de Ipainia), commonly known as Ipainia ([[w:Help:IPA_for_English aɪpəɪnɪa]), is a micronation that does not claim any physical territory. However, it considers its citizen's social environment (e.g. their homes) as part of it. For a better internal organization, I] established a digital territory conformed by 13 states.

The Royal Republic of Ipainia is governed as a Monarchy-Federal Presidential Republic with Alexander I as king and Matthew Hamptons as President. Ipainia was founded on 5 July 2013 with an absolute monarchy government. The current government system was established by the king -Alexander I- on 4 August 2013 and the constitution was published on 23 December 2013.

Ipainia was founded with the purpose of being a comfortable and creative place in which its citizens can develop their abilities, promote culture and share innovative ideas. These activities contribute to the development of the micronation.

Ipainia does not support any kind of violence. For this reason, its foreign policy is characterized by its diplomacy and impartiality, seeking for peace and the development of micronationalism. Ipainia is an active member of the Organization of United Micronations and the Organization For Cooperation and Development of Micronations.

Etymology

Before the foundation of Ipainia by Alexander I, he started to write in a book ideas about a new nation. He took as a model the macronation of Brazil due to its dynamism and green environment. One of the most recognized neighborhoods of Brazil is Ipanema. Ipainia comprises two morphemes: "ipa-" (the root, comes from Ipanema) and "-inia" (a derivative morpheme with no meaning).

History

Before Ipainia

When Alexander I was fourteen, he wrote in a notebook articles in which he expresses his willingness to establish a new country. He started to write facts about a fictional country which he called "Kuyay". After searching about how to star a new nation, he met the term 'micronations'. He decided to start a micronation so he opened an account in NationStates, a multiplayer government simulation software. However, he realized soon that this software will not let his nation evolve naturally.

Eventually, he found different micronational governmental websites and the forum of the Organization of United Micronations (OMU, for its acronym in spanish). The requirements and structure of the OMU helped Alexander I to organize better his ideas.

The Hispanic Ipainia

Ipainia had Spanish as main language because it is the native language of its king, Alexander I. The Hispanic Ipainia lasted from the foundation of Ipainia to January 17, 2015 (Implementation of English as national language).

Foundation of Ipainia

On July 5, 2013, Alexander I founded Ipainia as a new micronation without claiming a physical territory and proclaimed himself as king of Ipainia. The same day he established the digital map of Ipainia -with Báhía as capital city- for better internal organization; but he also stated that Ipainia will consider its citizens' social environment as part of its territory. In addition, a governmental website -that also served as official newspaper- was created.

"Monarchy and democracy are not antagonistic"

On August 4, 2013, Alexander I introduced a new form of government, this implies the abolition of the absolute-monarchy system). The Monarchy-Federal Presidential Republic system was implemented, the King will work as leader and foreign representative of the micronation while the President will work for internal improvement.

Many citizens of the micronation were confused and criticized the decision. However, Alexander I replied defining 'Ipainia' in four words:

- Monarchy, because the king and the royal family represent and lead the micronation;

- Federal, because the states have autonomy and are differentiated with their proper culture

- Presidential, because the president will be the expression of democracy; and

- Republic, because Ipainia is based on equality in order to protect fundamental rights.
