Constitution
Head of the Republic
Great National Assembly

The Council of State (Romanian: Sfatul Țării) is the legislative body of the Royal Government of Juclandia, defined by the Constitution as subordinated to the Great National Assembly, having the role of representing the interest of the country's twelve cooperatives.

From 2015 to 2022 it was officially known as the Council of State of the Royal Government of Juclandia (Romanian: Consiliul de Stat al Guvernului Regal al Juclandiei).

The President of Juclandia has always been a member of the Council, and has always been the Council's presiding officer. However, the Vice President of Juclandia has been made a member and the presiding officer of the Assembly of Deputies, the lower chamber of the Great National Assembly, when the latter was bicameral. In 2015, the Council of State was separated from the Great National Assembly and both the President and the Vice President of Juclandia became members of the reformed structure, reverting to their original titles of President and Vice President of the Council of State.

History

The Council of State was first founded in 2010, when Juclandia became a Kingdom. It was a special body that could veto both the decrees of the King and the decisions of the Great National Assembly. Half of it was elected by popular vote in single-member constituencies, with the other half being designated by the King.

Membership

In accordance with provisional constitutional acts passed in November 2022, the Council of State is made up of 12 members, named by the Great National Assembly. Gori Jucărescu was named President of the Council of State on 25 December 2022, while the rest of the Council was elected in April 2023.

From 2015 to 2020, the Council of State was made up of fifteen members, twelve out of which were directly elected in single-member constituencies based on the twelve co-operatives of Juclandia. The remaining three seats were served by ex officio members:

  • The President and the Vice President of the Council of State
  • The Patriarch of the Church of Juclandia
