Botswanistan (Cyrillic: Ботсванистан), officially named George Floyd Land, is a department of Nedlando-Khorasan. It consists of seven classrooms, and the sidewalk outside of Ned Gunderson's high school, in Arlington, Virginia.

History

Botswanistan was founded on the 17th of November 2015 by Gunderson. It was named after the African country of Botswana, and "-stan" was added to give it a "special Nedlandic feel." It is part of a series of dependencies and municipalities which will hopefully be created. It was declared a dependency originally, and, with the Emperor's consent, became a crown dependency under Nedlandic control on November 18.

However, when Nedland was declared defunct, so was Botswanistan. However, when the Republic of Nedland declared independence in May 2016, Botswanistan officially became a dependency under the jurisdiction of Nedland.

On 7 November, it adopted a new flag and changed the name of the local capital to Albania City.

Controversy

Warning: some content may be offensive to viewers. Discretion is advised.

In late October 2020, Botswanistan was the center of a controversy on MicroWiki when the Great Kurultay voted to rename Botswanistan to "George Floyd Land". The MicroWiki page was edited to reflect this change, which attracted protest from MicroWiki users due to the nature of Floyd's death, and the description on the page, mentioning Albanians and the Ottoman Empire. Link redirects were also inserted, with "Albanian" linking to the wikipedia article for the Black Hebrew Israelites, "George Floyd" linking to Mao Zedong, and "Ottoman Empire" linking to Electronic Arts.[1] The scope of the controversy can also be seen on its talk page, eventually leading Gunderson being banned for 2 days.[2]

In response to these events, the Great Kurultay adopted a resolution advising MicroWiki staff to "smoke weed everyday".
